A Holistic Approach to the Equine Experience
Colleen Gelvin, DVM has owned and operated Drouin Spring Equine Center for over a decade. At DSEC, we offer riding instruction with the health and fitness of each horse in mind. DSEC is an 11-stall facility with outdoor arena, indoor arena, pasture and trails for horses to enjoy. At DSEC, we offer year round access to lessons and equine assisted psychotherapy with a heated indoor arena and two large heated tack rooms. DSEC hosts clinics and offers schooling shows during the summer months.
Riding Instruction
Dr. Gelvin, a USDF Silver Medalist, implements her decades of riding and instruction experience to offer a well rounded learning environment. All horses at DSEC are part of the lesson program, offering them a year-round opportunity to train and remain fit and healthy.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Claire Gelvin-Smith, LPC works in collaboration with Dr. Gelvin to offer EAGALA model equine assisted psychotherapy sessions for both groups and individuals. Claire specializes in treating trauma, and works with adults and teens individually in the community. Each horse counterpart is carefully selected for goodness-of-fit for the equine assisted psychotherapy sessions.
